THE 21

A letter from Juggle, on the 21st of every month.

Hello friend,

This one is about the person you would be glad to see, and the text you have not sent them.

One thing worth knowing

Researchers asked thousands of people to reach out to someone they had lost touch with, and to guess first how much it would mean to hear from them. Then they asked the people who received it.

The senders were wrong, every time, in the same direction. Being reached out to meant more than they imagined, and it meant most when it came out of the blue and from someone a little further away.

So the message you are almost certainly overthinking is the one most worth sending, and the longer it has been, the more it lands.

Juggle exists because that message is easy to mean and easy to never send.

One thing worth doing

Here is a test you can run in about four seconds. Picture someone you have not spoken to in six months or a year. Now picture bumping into them in line at Starbucks tomorrow morning.

If you would smile, hug them and happily let your coffee go cold for twenty minutes, then nothing is wrong between you. Life simply stopped putting you in the same room. In that line, the morning made the connection for you. In a text, you make it yourself. You can send this exactly as it is:

You came to mind today and I realized how long it has been. How are you, really?

What is new

Ever wanted to juggle and figured you would drop everything? Here is a chance to practice. Walk through the real Juggle with a sample circle of friends, let the Coach write the first message, and press every button there is. The people in it are invented, so just have fun.
